What is Clinical Counselling?
Couples counseling, also called couples therapy, are clinical counseling sessions that involve both parties in a romantic and/or sexual relationship.
These clinical therapy sessions help couples recognize barriers in their communication, understand each other’s perspective on different situations, how to deal with challenges and also portray sympathy where needed.
The BC Association of Clinical Counselling (BCACC)
The BCACC was founded in 1988 and is the association that oversees all Registered Clinical Counsellors that practice in BC. What does this mean to you?
This means if you are seeing someone with the designations of RCC, it means they have undergone specific training and met certain requirements before being able to provide you with the mental health services that you need. You can be assured that through this rigorous training program, they are equipped with the knowledge and skills to serve you and commit themselves to following the highest standards of Code of Ethics in Clinical Practice.
Who is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC)?
A Registered Clinical Counsellor, also called RCC is an individual that completes the specific training required to provide counselling services. All RCCs have a minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited university.
Many also have additional training in their specific areas of interest such as couples counseling, or addressing anxiety and depression.
