You may have heard from friends and family that you should visit a chiropractor for your daily aches and pains. At the same time, you might have been hesitant to go since you are not sure what to expect on your first chiropractic visit.
This is completely normal and similar to any other therapy because your first visit will always be a new experience.
As a chiropractor, I am here to answer some common questions that I get asked from new patients all the time. In addition, I’ll tell you a few things you can also do to make the first visit pleasant and beneficial!
Duration of First Chiropractic Visit
Firstly, the initial assessment takes between 30-60 minutes, depending on the complexity of your injuries and condition.
During this time, your chiropractor will then ask about your injuries and lifestyle. Also, talk about a treatment plan that they have drawn up for you. Most importantly, build a therapeutic relationship with you!

Power of Communication
Communication with any health care provider is the key to ensuring they fully understand your concerns and complaints. Furthermore, communicating effectively if you are not comfortable with a specific modality or technique is crucial. Otherwise, surprises could have happened during your visit.
I always explain to my patients the modalities and techniques that are most appropriate for their condition. And also what those techniques would look and feel like.
As a result, I can build a stronger therapeutic relationship and trust with my patients through this process. The more they know about what to expect, the less there will be to surprise them.
After First Chiropractic Visit
Most people feel immediate relief after treatment. Even so, it’s not uncommon to feel some slight discomfort and soreness after receiving manual therapy.
Therefore, the next time you see your doctor, be sure to talk about this with them! It gives them more information about how they can keep taking better care of your injuries and illnesses.
